Science Workshops at Weald

This week forty Year 5 girls from local feeder primary schools had the opportunity to take part in a Harry Potter themed science workshop in one of our Chemistry laboratories. They worked in small groups supervised by our Year 12 Chemistry students and produced Secret Snitcher and Helious Potions, Growth Serum and burnt basilisk skin!

Our sixth formers were amazing ambassadors for both the school and science, and entered into the tasks enthusiastically with the visitors. They were on hand to share their experiences of Weald and answer the numerous questions the youngsters had.

After small tours around the site including visiting Art, DT and viewing the Sports facilities, biscuits in the shapes of witches hats, cauldrons and capes were gratefully enjoyed by all in the canteen.

One primary school teacher said “I just wanted to say a big thank you to the staff and sixth formers at Weald for such a fun science workshop—the girls loved it. I look forward to an invite next year”.
