The intention of the Politics curriculum at Weald of Kent Grammar School is to inspire an appetite for learning, fostering a broad understanding of politics through balanced and purposeful debates, while also providing students with the knowledge to achieve their potential. Students will develop a detailed understanding of the workings of the UK and US political systems, as well as an in-depth knowledge of political ideologies. We want them to construct well-supported, informed political arguments with an evaluative focus that enables them to weigh up the things that work within our political world and those that do not. This ability to understand arguments and link them to the real world is a golden thread throughout the course. This thread continues as Politics has a strong citizenship focus, emphasizing the need to be an active member of society. Politics combines a focus on academic success alongside a deeper understanding of the world they live in, creating a love and passion for Politics.
